In a work like Sound Horizon, it is very easy to misinterpret something when you have just started. They can be bigger or smaller but they are funny ideas when you look back and see what your past self truly believed in.

When I was talking about the Eternal Boy in that other thread, I remembered one of the most interesting fails in my SH experience.

You see, I thought that our Eternal Boy was an Eternal Girl and that she was talking to a boy (the namesake of the title). As one can guess, it truly twisted my perception of Lost's story... until I finally realized how wrong I was in a chat with a friend.

Effectively, after a listen with that in mind, Aramary was clearly dubbing a man in that song.

I thought the name of the girl from Thanatos is actually officially called Thanako. But that's actually a fan nickname.

I thought Lost wasn't really a sound horizon, Elysion was the the third one, Roman the fourth, and Moira the fifth. And then for some reason I kept thinking Marchen was the Eighth.

lol.

The worst one I had wasn't even funny...I thought Chronicle 2nd was a full remake and that it made the first Chronicle obsolete. Therefore, when people referred to "Chroniko", I always equated that character with Chronica in Chronicle 2nd...sigh.

I thought Seisen no Iberia was an album, I didn't know Thanatos was a Horizon outside the title character being in Moira (yikes).

Gee, I could go on forever. In my youth I really thought that SH was connected with other media, and even now I could argue that it at least somewhat inspired some things from Sound Horizon, such as some of the symbolism in the early Fire Emblem games that were never released outside of Japan, but still are easily accessible via emulators (and translations patches). I clocked in a lot of hours in FE games, and it sure made me think twice about Moira's symbolism in particular, even if it all started with Elysion. Lots of embarrassing claims and many years later, I've distanced myself mostly from it.

Well, there's the one that I mentioned in my introduction, that Elefseus and Lafrenze were somehow the same person (Elefrenze?)... This skewed my perception of Moira/Elysion quite a bit. I also believed Amethystos was an actual wolf, and that Thanako was the REAL Thanatos.

I thought Elysion was a doujin work because I mostly associate them with Aramary.

My very first contact with Sound Horizon was the Elyion concert, not counting that StarDust fan video, and I was so confused because I thought El and Lafrenze were the same person due to the same mask... And I was like but why different names if they look the same? After a while, I finally realized the truth.

Oh, boy, the tales I could tell. I've been in the SanHora fandom for MANY MANY years, ever since I was in middle school, and at the start... Well, there weren't a lot of translators around at the time (at least none that my stupid younger self could find), so I relied on my very basic knowledge of Japanese to understand the music. It led to... a lot of funny mistakes.

For example, I thought Hiver's name was Roman. I also thought that in Hiiro no Fuusha, the main character was a girl - which, I mean, is technically true, since I'm pretty sure they were voiced by a woman. Then I thought Noelle's line in Norowareshi Pierre was actually Reine Michelle personified, as she waited for someone to steal her from the museum exhibit (seeing as how the theft was what happened next).

Moira only saw more confusion, as I always figured Thanatos was a woman (of course, because of the long hair). And, after Leontius's first song, it has a flashback to when Elef is born and Isadora is showing Leon his new baby brother - well, I thought that younger brother was a totally new character, who only comes back during ShiseruTatakai to attack Elef and get killed along with Leon.  Which always made me wonder what happened to the Amazon queen who fought Leon and left, and I just figured she would come back in another Horizon or something. So, I never understood that Leontius and Elef/Misia were related. THEN, when Misia chooses to become a sacrifice, I always heard the word "sentaku" as meaning "laundry," so I was like, "Oh, I guess she was kidnapped while doing some laundry or something???" I also didn't know that a hurricane separated Elef and Misia, and just thought that Elef left her on Lesbos for safe keeping. And I didn't know that Orion died sometime in between Ilion and ShiseruTatakai, so I thought that Orion was the one who killed Leontius and Isadora (the sound effect for Elef's sword cutting through them sounded to me like 'an arrow of stardust'), which also made me believe that Orion was on Elef's side. And I thought that Alexander was a circus manager, for some reason. I don't even have a defense for that one. Oh, and I thought Misia's name was Misha. Moira was a weird album for me, and probably the worst it ever was for me to understand.

I also thought Thanako was actually Thanatos, which might have reinforced the false idea that Thanatos was a woman. And I, too, thought Eien no Shounen was a girl, and that he was talking to (and trying to kill) Lostko during his song.

During Idoko's song in Marchen, I also assumed that Mar's "nostalgic feeling" meant that they were directly related, and that he was somehow his father - even though he died when he was like 10. It confused me a lot and I was like, "This doesn't make any sense, I have to be wrong," but I still assumed it to be the case until I found out about Idolfried. I still don't know who Idolfried is. Who the fuck is Idolfried.

I also thought that Chronica was the main character of Chronicle 2: Electric Boogaloo, and at one point thought her name was Lucia as a result.

And I thought that the second song in Seisen took place in the afterlife or something, and that it had something to do with Thanatos's song in Moira, loose though I thought the connection may have been.

Oh, and in Ark, I thought the "brother" being referred to was the knife the girl was carrying around, and that the song took place on another planet. And at one point I also thought that "Lafrenze" was the name of a bird, and that was what was making the weird bird noises during the flute portions of the song. Which is an improvement on a previous assumption, where before I thought that "Rafurentse" was actually Japenglish for "Rafflesia" - the giant corpse flowers in tropical forests.

I'm older and wiser now, thank god.

I used to think Eien no Shounen wasn't smiling in the cover, due to the google images being kinda faraway from him to see. Then I looked closely at the fucker and he's smiling like a bastard.

I just want to point one thing to Layla:

The word used to refer at the "babies" in the flashback is 兄妹/兄弟, it is a sort of ambiguous word but it is used most of the time as a plural (For example, the japanese call the Roman siblings ロマン兄妹) and it basically means "set of siblings". Leon is most likely meeting both Elef and Misia. Revo would have used 弟 otherwise.

Also if you want I can explain Idolfried to you! But he basically is Idoko's father, died in the well and posessed it as a ghost (becoming the Id). He is the one that makes Therese come to the forest and later who fusions with März to create Märchen. He also appears in Schnee song, and then we discover that he worked for Cortes.

A lot of people were theorizing that Märchen would be about Ido the sailor trying to escape the forest before morning came, or things would reset into a never-ending rotation. This was before his name was crossed out and replaced with Märchen.

People who have been around before Moira came out would all be liars or didn't care to look into the doujin era (What, you've got Roman and Elysion? That's it?) if they didn't at some point think Thanatos would resemble Thanatos-ko visually. That was the only real interpretation one could have that wasn't completely made up for his appearance.

A part of me still clings to the idea that the liar in Roman is the listener (us), even if that makes not so much sense.

I THOUGHT that was the case, since 兄妹 was used instead of 弟, but I always figured it was just Elef because I only heard one baby crying--

Oh my god. I just realized. That's why Elef was referred to as a crybaby during ShiseruMonogatari. I always wondered why that was because that was never really expanded upon but now I get it. Elef would always cry and Misia woULDNT AND THAT PLAYS SO WELL TOWARDS THEIR STORIES AND ENDINGS HOW DID I NOT PICK UP ON THIS BEFORE

YEAH, ELEF HAS BEEN THE EMOTIONAL ONE FROM THE MOMENT HE WAS A KID. I just love that about his character and how their different natures show so clearly through their stories. But it was the two of them with almost a 90% certainty.

And that's the beauty of Sound Horizon, there are always SOMETHING you didn't catch on.

(Also, I would rather talk in private instead of spamming this thread if it keeps up)
