-ASSORTED HORIZONS DISCUSSION THREAD-

Sound Horizon's 10th Anniversary special celebration will come in three. Each will represent a point in Sound Horizon's journey:

The Past (The Assorted Horizons)

The Present (Anniversary Maxi, Vanishing Starlight)

The Future (The 9th Horizon)

The Assorted Horizons is the 7th DVD release from the fantasy band Sound Horizon, and the third offered as a Blu-Ray. It was released from Pony Canyon on June 18, 2014, opening the door for Sound Horizon's Limited Deluxe Edition system of paying significantly more, but to in return have a lot of extra content included in the purchase. This release is exactly what it is titled after, featuring songs from the first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth horizons. While the 7th isn't included, the entirety of the Prologue Maxi is included.

In addition, the deluxe version includes a completely new second disc, featuring Revo's work outside of Sound Horizon, as well as a live-only song that we had yet to see before. Almost every aspect of Revo's musical career to the point of the release is represented, except for the second horizon Thanatos, as well as his webwork songs. Despite meeting some controversy for some song choices (omitting Thanatos, using the Halloween Party version of StarDust, or even reusing old footage from the past with Iberia), this is the first time a Sound Horizon live has ever featured multiple angles, each giving a different insight. Revo has also confirmed that this release was made special for the 10th Anniversary, and that there will not be a second installment of The Assorted Horizons.

The only flaw I could personally find in this would have to be the lack of Thanatos representation. With that said, the only feasible way for Revo to include it at all would be to reuse even more footage, or to use the footage from the 2011 benefit concert, Revive. I've seen people make the argument that Revo used some photos from that in the Glory Kingdom feature video, but nobody bought it for a still image. It is completely different from profiting off of footage that was done for the purpose of charity over profits. (Perhaps in the future, one would only hope.)

Lack of Thanatos representation aside, I find this to be the perfect kind of release, next to a Sound Horizon artbook. I can look past seeing the same footage of Iberia again, because frankly it was well done and likely only included because Jimang mentioned the third anniversary aspect at the beginning. It really fit the tone of what Revo was going for.
